Fools

This may be a place of the dead but even here there are still poor fools eking out a pathetic existence. Some would make for valuable party members or at least entertaining conversation. Most, however, are dim wits or damaged beyond all reason.

Some characters encountered can be Party Members, unlockable characters that can assist you in combat, while others are just non-recruitable Flavor NPCs.

Party Members

These characters can be unlocked to accompany you on your various runs. They have different abilities, and different conditions to be unlocked.

After unlocking party members, they can be chosen at the start of the run, found randomly for free in the overworld, or be bought at a fool's board for a set amount of money, the ones found for free and on the fool's board have their levels scale depending on what area you are in. (I.E, Level 1 in the Far Shore, Level 2 in the Orpheum)

	Anton	The Gambler	Normal	1	Pay Anton 10 coins. This is cumulative between runs.
	Splig	The Conjoined	Normal	1	Abandon or get a party member killed before speaking to Splig in The Far Shore.
	Pearl	The Glutton	Normal	1	Complete 40 combat encounters after speaking to Markus and then speak to Pearl. This is cumulative between runs.
	Thype	The Trickster	Hard	1	Murder Roids, both Hickorys, Mobius and Trigger Fingers and then speak to Thype. This is cumulative between runs.
	Griffin	The Naked	Hard	1	Complete 3 combat encounters without anyone taking any damage and then speak to Griffin.
	Arnold	The Failure	Hard	1	Speak to Arnold while in hardmode. Choose to not make fun of Arnold.
	Dimitri	The Incinerated	Hard	1	Speak to an interactable campfire.
	Mung	The Emotional Disaster	Hard	1	Talk to the sleeping man after completing Ichor's Quest.
	LongLiver	The Parasite	Normal	2	Each time a party member dies your chance of unlocking LongLiver upon speaking to him increases by 1%. This increase persists between runs.
	Clive	The Stoic	Normal	2	Speak to Clive in 3 separate runs.
	Kleiver	The Zealot	Normal	2	Kill 35 Music Men before they can transform.
	Cranes	The Corpse	Normal	2	Get 20 party members killed and then speak to Cranes. This is cumulative between runs.
	Agon	The Terminal	Hard	2	Speak to Agon, having gotten no party members killed that run.
	Rags	The Psychic	Hard	2	Kinda Slay an Ungod and then speak to Rags.
	Smoke Stacks	The Black Lung	Hard	2	Everytime you discard an item your chance to unlock Smokestacks by speaking to him increases by 1%.
	Leviat	The Mass	Hard	3	Speak to Leviat with Hans in your active party.
	Bimini	The Immortal	Hard	3	Pay Bimini 50 coins at once. This is not cumulative and must be paid at once.
	Gospel	The Magnum Opus	Hard	3	Interact with Gospel with no party members except Nowak.
	Mordrake	The Mistake	Hard	3	Earn 30 final boss unlocks then speak to him in the Garden

Unlockables

Each character has unique unlocks for defeating Heaven and Osman Sinnoks.

Bonus Party Members

These party members cannot be selected at the start of a run, bought, or found randomly in the overworld. They do not have any unlocks, and are usually gained through an item.

	Doll	Spawned by the Broken Doll, The Master's Sickle, and Stillborn Egg items. Will normally disappear after combat, but can be permanently gained with Stillborn Egg.
	Gall Gagger	Spawned by Tape Worm Pills, and Stillborn Egg items. Will stay permanent after combat.
