"I crave to be that great stone that marks the sky." -Ichor

Ichor's Quest is one of the quests given by Strangers in Brutal Orchestra. It is initiated by speaking to Ichor in The Far Shore. He will ask Nowak to tell him about a safe passage through the Far Shore, which requires beating it with no casualties. You must then repeat this for The Orpheum and The Garden, each time having beaten the area with no causalities. After that, you must find him one more time in The Garden.

Aftermath

After completing the quest, the moon seen in the background will change appearance. Talia has confirmed that more will come from the quest in a later update.

In the Exquisite Corpse update, completing Ichor's Quest will allow you to recruit Mung.

Far Shore Dialogue

Ichor
Oh! Hello.
Are you also a traveller?
Nowak
Yeah.
I suppose I am.
Ichor
Oh that is spectacular!
Far too many souls are content to just be, well...
Dead.
If I may ask, what is your destination?
Nowak
It was revenge.
Of the petty variety.
But now, I'm not so sure.
Bosch
It sounds so much worse when you put it that way.
Ichor
Heh, well hopefully the bastard has it coming.
...
We may have more in common than I thought.
Would you like to hear of my goal?
Nowak
Sure.
Ichor
Well.
Well ever since I was a child I have always wanted to become the...
*He suddenly falls silent.*
...
I'm sorry, I won't burden you with my childish ambitions.
*His voice betrays his embarrassment.*
I suspect our crossing is coming to a close.
Before we depart, may I ask your name?
Nowak
Nowak.
You?
Ichor
Ichor.
Well Nowak, I hope we cross paths again someday.
And if you ever find a way to safely escape this desert, please let me know.

Meeting again without clearing the Far Shore:

Ichor
Found a safe way out of the desert yet?
Nowak
Every attempt at leaving this desert has resulted in casualties, unfortunately.
Ichor
Ah, well if you ever safely escape, please let me know.
I fear the cost of forging my own path.

Meeting after clearing the Far Shore:

Nowak
It seems there's a safe-ish path to the mountains through the east.
Ichor
Really?!
Excellent, I will depart immediately.
Nowak
Do you want to travel with us?
The path is still dangerous.
Ichor
No, I must make this pilgrimage alone.
Forgive me.
Nowak
It's alright, but please be safe.
Ichor
*You can feel Ichor smile from beneath his helmet.*
I am excited to start my journey proper.
Thank you for your assistance.
I am proud to call you a friend.

Orpheum Dialogue

Ichor
Hey!
Nowak
Glad to see you made it!
Ichor
Thank you but my journey doesn't end here.
Nowak
Where are you headed?
Ichor
Well, rumours suggest that a beautiful garden of earthly delights exists just beyond this mountain range.
And that those who reach it are granted a single inalienable wish.
Nowak
Is that true?
Ichor
About the garden and wishes?
Well, heh, it must be.
Or else I have made a terrible mistake coming here.
Nowak
What do you intend to wish for?
Ichor
Oh, well...
It's silly but I would like to wish to become...
...
Well, the Moon.
And not in some metaphorical sense.
I crave to be that great stone that marks the sky.
I'm sorry.
I must sound like the bloody archduke of fools.
...
Nowak
No, it's alright.
I get it.
And honestly, I hope you're able to do it.
I just honestly don't know how you'd even start.
Ichor
*Ichor smiles beneath his helmet.*
Well, first I need to find a way to that garden.
If you someday find a safe path to that place, please let me know.

Meeting again without clearing the Orpheum:

Ichor
Please let me know if you find a safe path to that garden.
Nowak
I will.

Meeting again after clearing the Orpheum:

Nowak
Beyond the caverns and lagoon, there's a path to a strange and terrifying place.
I don't know for certain but I suspect it may be the garden.
Ichor
That is wondrous news.
I will depart immediately.
And Nowak, my friend.
Thank you.
I will depart immediately.
Nowak
I still think you should come with us.
Ichor
I appreciate that, but I must walk this path alone.
But even though I must walk this path alone,
I'd still love to follow the path you discover.

Garden Dialogue

Nowak
Oh my god!
What happened to you?
Ichor
Isn't it wonderful Nowak?
Who knew such gorgeous fruits could grow among this cold.
Who knew fruit could grow within ourselves.
Nowak
This isn't right, you have to come with me.
You aren't well.
Ichor
An angel.
Nowak
What?
Ichor
A lunar angel came and spoke to me.
Through her countless tongues and eyes she spoke.
"Oh blessed pilgrim, who suffers for our stone."
Nowak
An angel? What are you talking about?
Ichor
"Thou art chosen, but not of whole."
"That which shall become our moon is basal to you."
"May all unripe fruit be plucked away."
*Ichor's laugh reveals he is internally bleeding.*
It's so beautiful. I always knew I was special.
Nowak
Ichor please, that wasn't an angel.
You have to come with me, it's not safe.
Ichor
Nowak, I am so close.
You cannot take this from me.
Please.
Nowak
...
I'll find you a way out of here and then you have to come with me.
Ichor
*He does not protest.*

Meeting again without clearing the Garden:

Nowak
I'm sorry, I haven't found a safe way out of here yet.
I'll keep looking.
Ichor
Oh Nowak.
I want this.
Nowak
...

Meeting again after clearing the Garden:

Nowak
Okay!
I found a way out.
Ichor
She is coming.
She will return to me soon.
I cannot leave.
Please understand, I need this.
Nowak
It's not an angel!
Don't let yourself be fooled like this.
Please just come with me.
...
Please...
Ichor
Nowak, even if I am being misled,
I am finally happy.
Don't you want that for me?
Bosch
Nowak, there's nothing we can do.
Just let him go.
Nowak
...

Final Dialogue

Ichor
...
Nowak
No...
Bosch
Nowak, I think it's best we leave.
We can't save those who don't want it.
Nowak
...
Please, just give me a moment.
He didn't deserve this.
Bosch
Take as long as you need.
Ichor
...
*Gurgle*
*Whispering*
Nowak?
Nowak
Oh my God.
Ichor
Nowak, is that you?
Nowak
Yes.
Don't speak, just rest.
Ichor
You look so small from up here.
Like a little golden speck on a marble of black oil.
I never knew you had a friend with you this whole time.
That's good, I wouldn't want you to be alone.
It's all so gorgeous from up here.
When my father left my sister and I in the woods, I remembered the Moon.
As we froze and became like stones among those trees, I remember the warmth of that Moon.
I just wanted to be that warmth for others.
And now I will never be.
Nowak, I am so tired.
Can I...
*His voice is becoming inaudible.*
Can I come with you?
I promise, I won't be a burden.
Nowak
*You are struggling to maintain your composure.*
Yeah, you can come with us.
...
But get some rest first, we have a long road ahead.

Attempting to talk to him again

Ichor
...
...
*He is gone.*
