Roids

Roids is a tall and muscular fighter and is one of the four bosses in The Far Shore. Their focus is on teaching the player to put pressure on the enemy and to be careful with when to use support moves.

Lore

Roids was an unhappy man throughout pretty much all his life, and now having died is even more unhappy now^[1]. He had experience in fighting in life, and most likely was quite fit, however Purgatory works strangely, and allowed him to grow beyond normal human sizes. Eventually he came across a fight club that was organized in the Far Shore, the fight club used to have rotating contestants, but when he showed up he just kept killing everyone until he was the only one left, he quickly became the fan favorite and was given the nickname "Roids"^[1]
Lore from the Steam Card: "Roids is a burning star of self-hatred, a star that's brilliance and light illuminates and amazes Purgatory far and wide. He does not speak, lest he hear his own voice. When the crowd roars and adrenaline takes control of every nerve, he for a moment is adrift in that silent sea, floating gently above cool waves of oblivion. Your body and blood are not yours, but instead Roids' tool to once more return to those waves, if only for a moment."

Tips

Roids requires aggression to overcome. Triggering his Overexert(2) will reduce the amount of attacks he will do and give more openings to attack.
Because of Roids' high amount of actions, fire is very effective against him

Trivia

According to ItsTheTalia, Roids was originally a boss in Devour that wore a splatter mask and was named King Klot. They looked basically the same except they had and extra pair of legs and arms uselessly growing out of them. They never got implemented as the game got canceled.^[2]
Talia said that she assumes that Roids is somewhere from the Western United States.^[3]
Roids was inspired by Hart, the leader of the Lovelies, from Lisa: The Hopeful.^[4]
When Roids was alive, he often listened to classical music. Specially French Impressionist authors such as Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy. Sources say that, at least once a day, he would listen to his favourite piece (Rêverie by Debussy) while drinking a nice cup of tea.^[5]
