Tips
- Because X&G is a size-3 enemy and has 2 actions per turn, Fire and attacks that hit multiple spaces are extremely effective. Since X&G is in the Garden, party members can go as high as level 4, which for some characters upgrades their AOE attacks to target 3 spaces.
Trivia
- Xiphactinus and Gillicus are almost directly based of a creature seen in the first panel of Hieronymus Bosch Triptych "Temptation of St. Anthony"
- Xiphactinus and Gillicus are named after two large prehistoric fish, the Xiphactinus, and Gillicus, most likely because of a famous fossil of the former eating the latter.
- When Xiphactinus and Gillicus dies Gillucus is still alive, as seen in its corpse. [1]
- When asked about why its theme is named "Three Storms Above the Mountain of Steam" Talia said: "Each part of Xiphactinus and Gillicus (the two fish and the meaty tower) are the storms it's referring to. Earlier iterations of Xiphactinus had steam pouring out of its body to sell the war machine vibe, but it looked too visually messy."[2]
- Xiphactinus and Gillicui are often avoided by most inhabitants of The Garden, as they are quick to aggravate and often get into fights, even with others of the same kind. These fights are often lethal, as it is a very determined animal.[3]
- "Persistence of Time" could be a reference to the fifth studio album by the American heavy metal band Anthrax of the same name. It could also be referencing "The Persistence of Memory" by Salvador Dalí, which the album's name is also a reference to.
